Marbury to play in a pro team in China


The former NBA All-Star guard Stephon Marbury signed a deal to play for a professional team in China. According to YahooSports, Marbury will be making $25,000 per a month, he will be playing for Shanxi Zhongyu, a team that need some help to get closer on the top of the standing. Shanxi lost 10 of 13 games and sits in 12th place in the 17-team CBA.

"Marbury's salary is not an astronomical figure because by coming here he also hopes to open up the Chinese market and sell his shoes," Xingjiang said.

Marbury played 13 season in the NBA with Minnesota, New Jersey, Phoenix, New York and played 23 games with the Boston Celtics last season and earned nearly $22 million. He averaged 19.3 points in his career.

Marbury has reportedly turned down a few European overtures during the summer,including bids by two Greek teams before agreeing to the deal with Shanxi Zhongyu. Shanxi said they expected Marbury to play his first game on Jan. 27 against Qingdao.
